This site is run by Rob Shea (Rob Shea Photography). This page explains what information is collected when you use diffraction.cam, and who handles it. The calculator itself runs in your browser. I don’t sell your information, and I don’t use it for anything other than what is described here.

What I Collect

  • Anonymous usage data, such as which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are located, and what device and browser they use, collected by Google Analytics. The camera you pick is part of the page address, so Analytics records it with the page visit.
  • Your name and email address, when you subscribe to the newsletter or email me a correction or a camera to add.
  • Dismissed notices, stored in your own browser so a notice you close stays closed. This never leaves your browser.

Services That Handle Your Information

The site uses these services. Each one has its own privacy policy, which covers what it does with your information.

  • Google Analytics measures how the site is used. It sets cookies in your browser.
  • Kit runs the newsletter and the newsletter sign-up form on this site.
  • YouTube plays the embedded videos on the Videos page, using its privacy-enhanced mode.
  • SmugMug hosts the site logo.
  • Font Awesome serves the icons.
  • cdnjs serves MathJax, which displays the formulas on the About page.
  • Vercel hosts the site and keeps standard server logs.

Some links to camera retailers, converters, and software, such as KEH, Adorama, and B&H, are affiliate links. If you click one, the retailer or its affiliate network may set cookies to credit the referral. Their privacy policies apply on their sites.

  • Newsletter: use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.
  • Analytics cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
  • Your information: email me to ask what information I have about you, to correct it, or to delete it.
